Baroque Castle

Hellbrunn Palace

Once the summer residence of Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg, the palatial-sized Hellbrunn Palace is an early Baroque villa that is famous for its jeux d’eau (water games) and hydro-powered mechanical theater consisting of 200 pieces.

A PLEASURE PALACE OF SURPRISES

Surrounded by spacious parks and gardens, Hellbrunn Palace’s Late Renaissance architecture is playfully complemented by the multitude of Mannerist trick fountains whose Puckish purpose is to prank guests with surprise spurts and sprays from the springs of the nearby Hellbrunn Mountain. These hydraulic attractions never fail to make a splash with park-goers and are a source of entertainment and refreshment in the hot summer months.
