The Film Festival at Rathausplatz
The largest cultural and culinary festival in Europe offers its approximately 900,000 visitors a programme of music, opera, operetta, jazz, pop, classical music and dance against the historical backdrop of the Vienna City Hall. From July to September, the film festival at Vienna’s Rathausplatz beckons visitors to partake of culinary delights from all over the world for 65 days, paired with impressive musical and artistic productions of the highest order, free of charge. Culture + Gastronomy = Cultural Highlight
The festival’s programme includes international productions from the world’s most famous opera houses as well as, of course, the Vienna State Opera. With numerous supporting programme items such as artist Saturdays with live unplugged performances, jazz breakfasts on Sundays as well as various guest appearances by “Vienna Jazz Festival” and the “Vienna Classic Days,” the festival provides a wide variety of entertainment. There’s something for young music lovers as well: opera films and children’s music productions in the Rathauspark every Friday at 5:00 p.m.
